SAFE DIVE BRIEFING

The dive briefing that all divers who visit us must know and apply :

 

GENERAL RULES OF THE POOL NEMO33 :

1- All divers must respect the rules of their diving federations and the rules of NEMO33.  If the rules are different, you should follow the one that is the most conservative.
2- It is mandatory to take a shower before entering the pool. (Let's keep our water cristal clear).
3- The entrance to the pool must be done only by the stairs.  All the equipment must be entered by the stairs as well.
4- To respect the quality of the water, plese avoid to spit, clean your nose or any other physiological productions.
5- Dives are conducted under the responsability of the each diver.
6- Divers are responsable for their buddies. The "Buddy System" must be apply strictly.  The maximum distance between divers is 5m.
7- The use of all weight systems is forbidden.

 

FREEDIVING - APNEA :   Allowed only during the first 10 minutes of each session

8- Divers are allowed to practice apnea and free-diving during the first 10 minutes of each session.  Practicing apnea after scuba diving is FORBIDDEN.
9- Static apnea is not allowed.
10- Entering the caverns while apnea is forbidden.  Giving air to a free diver is NOT ALLOWED (Risk of OVER PRESSURE during the ascent).
11- Apnea in the pit of 35 m is forbidden.
12- Visitors can practice apnea in the areas of: 1,3m, 2,5m, the pits of 5m and 10m.
13- The practice of apnea must be done in couples.  While one person descends, the other must supervise from the surface and be ready to help in the case it is needed.
14- The use of a monofin is authorized.  Special attention must be done in order to avoid injuring other visitors or scratching the tiles.

 

SCUBA DIVING :   From the minute 15 until the end of each session

SCUBA DIVING MATERIAL :
15- Each diver must verify his/hers material BEFORE entering the pool.  All parts of the equipment, the quantity and quality of the air in the bottle must be checked.
16- Each diver MUST use a DIVE COMPUTER.
AUTHORIZED EXERCICES AT NEMO33 :
17- Dive introductions (baptêmes de plongée) must be done by a certified instructor as marked on the point 18.
18- Dive courses must be done ONLY UNDER THE DIRECT SUPERVISION AND RESPONSABILITY OF A CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR WHO IS AUTHORIZED TO TEACH AND INSURED. He/she must follow the standards of one of the federations recognized by NEMO33:  SSI, LIFRAS, NELOS, FFESSM, NOB, BSAC, PADI, NAUI, IDEA.
19- Equipement removal is only authorized in the area of -1,30m and -2,50m.
MAXIMUM RATIO  ( Instructor : Student) :
20- Dive introduction 1:2  -  Dive course (max -10m) 1:6  -  Dive course (max -35m) 1:4
Student divers must remain always together with their instructor at a maximum distance of 3m.
MAXIMUM DEPTHS AUTHORIZED AT NEMO33 :
21- Dive introduction :   -6 m.
22- Candidates of the courses: 1*, N1, Scuba Diver SSI or PADI, Passport Diver NAUI :   -12 m.
23- Divers under the age of 15 years old OF ANY LEVEL:   -12 m.
After the age of 15 years old,  all the depth standards of all the federations are recognized at NEMO33.
24- Candidates of the OPEN WATER DIVER Course :   -18 m.
25- Candidates finishing the ADVANCED OPEN WATER Course :   -30 m.
26- Candidates of the DEEP DIVER Course :   -35 m  (If he/she has MINIMUM 20 logged dives).
TIMING :
27- Dives must be planned as NO DECOMPRESSION DIVES (the bottom time should not exceed the no decompression limits so that decompression stops are not necessary).
28- The maximum time bellow -20m  MUST NOT EXCEED 10 minutes.
29- Five minutes before the end of the dive, a sound or visual signal will be emited to remind the divers that it is the end of the dive and the safety stop must be done.
30- The safety stop, even if it is necessary, is very recommended at the end of every dive:  5 minutes at -5m.
31- For respect towards the next group of divers, please calculate your dive time including the safety stop so that you exit the pool on time (maximum at the beginning of the next hour, sharply) .
32- The MINIMUM SURFACE INTERVAL between 2 dives is of TWO HOURS.
33- All divers must know, respect and follow all the safety rules established by NEMO33.  NEMO33 assumes no responsability for any incident of consecutive non-compliance with the basic safety rules.
